You can find everything on the web, except for a good source for quality
horn charts. If you've just heard about Mike Winger and his incredible
service, you don't need to look any further for a great selection of
arrangements. Mike has gained unique expertise and experiences through
piloting his concert show band the "Blues Broads." Mike is solely
responsible for the custom horn arrangements the band plays to entertain the
many sell-out shows the band is hired for.

In my last band, the arranger abruptly quit, and we had no hope of finding
someone to write our horn charts, let alone buying charts that were flexible
for our horn section. Mike's "American Made Entertainment" came to our
rescue, and over the years Mike has arranged dozens of custom charts for us,
and was extremely flexible when we needed key changes or small adjustments.

Mike now provides an phenomenal subscription service for horn charts that he
either writes or acquires through trades. Personally, I find the service to

My project Black Max (http://myspace.com/blackmaxband) is looking for a female guitarist/vocalist to help stir the Memphis incarnation of the project to life. Regular rehearsals, no drama, just looking for someone who is comfortable playing/singing and who is laid back but can be serious about music. As you can see on the myspace, it's involved several different people's efforts all along. I'm more than happy to provide newer material than you hear there, as the sound of the music has changed. What we do now rocks a bit more, and is a bit more influenced by cabaret/vaudeville/burlesque sounds. The core of the group is myself on baritone electric, and a female vocalist on acoustic singing some duet, some backup and some lead. Also looking to add keys and a drummer. I'm willing to work with all skill levels of guitar as long as you have a basic proficiency when it comes to strums and chords, as long as vocals are strong (or vice versa). My vocal styles are similar and have been compared to those of Faith Hill, Patty Loveless, Reba Mcentire, (early 90's style of country music.) I have sung in many different venues. A local country music hall in Millington Tennessee, I was an active member of my church choir for two years, took professional voice lessons in classical music. 25/m Songwriter with Pro Produced Album Seeks 3 Band Members (East Memphis)

So I know that craigslist in Memphis is not exactly the most vibrant swath of the internet. BUT where I lived in DC I had a lot of luck finding awesome musicians to connect with here on craigs. So please take the time to read below and I will look forward to hearing from you!

I am looking for at least three new band members to join my project. In DC I had a band called Black Max (http://myspace.com/blackmaxband), which started out as bedroom recording with friends and was then greenlighted into a $15k album. But due to various stalls, it took us another year after the record was cut to get the final printing and actually get gigging. In that time, as is typical of recording projects my drummer there and I went through a long process of finding the right people for the band. Then, in late December of last year, because of family emergencies, I moved back home to Memphis and effectively reconverted the band to a project status. We have a full length (15 tracks) album, and I have an additional amount of new material (about 15 more Good songs) that I have recorded at home. I do a lot of project recording and am not half bad at it. I'll be happy to send you samples of my work and show you the direction that the music is going if you like what you hear on the myspace.

Here's where you come in. I'm looking, not to clone my DC band necessarily, but bring back the crucial components that I know makes this project function. I am hard working, dedicated, young (25) and in a job. This means that while serious about music, I also understand that it's important to work and function outside of a band :-) This is not an opportunity for me and pals to sit around long necking MGD and smoking pot. I'm looking for people who are laid back, but serious about making music. What kind of people you ask?

My traditional combo has been this: Me on male lead vox and baritone electric guitar, one female singer/acoustic guitar player (parts range from duet and traditional backup to lead), one female keyboard player to provide harmony in certain places (this isn't As crucial that you be female, but it's the way I know the band to work, I'm happy to consider guys, as well as girls who Don't sing, I don't discriminate as long as you have talent and dedication), we also typically had violin in the band (though it's less crucial it Really makes a difference), then last but not least a Drummer who is comfortable working in different styles. What styles you ask?

Our music will be flavored with a little of everything, listening to the myspace can give you a little taste, but if you go through the album there in the little store interface, you can hear that the style in that album ranges from 50's rock to cabaret. I like playful, darker, occasionally theatrical music. People say I sound like Leonard Cohen/Nick Cave/Stephin Meritt. Lately what I do has trended toward a sort of fun burlesque/rock sound. I'll be happy to send you examples.

I know this is an exceptionally tall order to fill for a musician space that seems to have very very few users. But I figure it doesn't hurt to try and I've been mourning the dormancy of my project for long enough dangit :-) I prefer to do original music, but have a shortlist of covers that would be cool to work on. I'm looking for people who have a dramatic sense of music, but no drama. Other flavors of instrument are welcome to apply, I've never really worked with bass for instance (always had keys) but would certainly consider it. Let's get something off the ground! Make some noise/Get on the road/play some tunes/cut a new record?? all of this and more.

I have an older Digitech GNX2 Guitar Effects board that I'd LOVE to upgrade the firmware on but Digitech only made the firmware upgrade in an OS 9 version which of course is long gone....

My only hope would be to find someone local who still has an old Macintosh with OS 9 still on it that I could borrow for a couple of minutes to hook up my midi interface and upgrade the board....

We're a group of artists (musicians, poets, vagabonds, beats) traveling together across the states. We're making a stop at the Juggling Gypsy Saturday the 2nd of August. We're looking to play with some other performers (jugglers, fire twirlers, old world magicians, belly dancers) and anyone else who has a strange sideshow act to perform.
