I'm arguing with the city/county on my reappraisal of my property. I have used comparable properties in my area, rising crime, diminished aesthetic value, even statistical facts provided by national companies showing the value of Memphis properties have dropped 20% in the past year. All of these show beyond a shadow of doubt that the property value shouldn't have gone up what they claim it to be. Does anyone know anything else that can be used to show absolute value, something they can't argue with? I can't see how the city can increase property values when the whole country and the economy is experiencing a drop in property values! Didn't the practice of over pricing the true value of property cause the economic mess were in now? Do the people in the Memphis Assessor's office read the papers or watch the news? Do they live here or are Memphis property values determined by people living in Europe or Asia?
